Chief Chapais began working as a patrolman for the Southwest Harbor Police
Department the day after he retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1995.  In 1998 he
was promoted to Lieutenant.  Then in 2003 he took the position as Chief of Police. 
He has been the D.A.R.E. officer for 14 years and teaches at the Pemetic
Elementary School in Southwest Harbor.
